I would like to wish Pride every success with this year's festival (Argus, March 26).
I am proud a city such as Brighton is so diverse and that this is something to celebrate.
It does not matter if you are gay, straight, black or white - we are all human beings and each deserves respect and understanding.
In Britain, we are lucky to live in a free country. However, I would ask everyone to remember that this freedom works both ways.
All too often, we hear about attacks on people because of their sexuality or the colour of their skin.
Why? Ignorance plays a part as well as downright bigotry. Let us not forget we are all individuals and there is no such thing as what some people class as "normal".
Pride's mission statement, to show the world how the gay and lesbian community can work together, sends out the right message. Let's all embrace the culture of tolerance and compassion.
