The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will see Sussex-based technology advances when they visit the new city of Brighton and Hove on March 29.

The Duke will visit the Innovation Centre at Sussex University to learn how commercial applications are developed for new technologies. He will be shown how robots have been developed with built-in intelligence.

Later, the royal party will visit Lighthouse, a community arts and training centre committed to developing new talent in digital media and film.

The Queen and the Duke will then take a walkabout in Pavilion Buildings.

Council leader Lynette Gwyn-Jones said: "It is wonderful news the Queen is to visit our new city and meet many of the people that make Brighton and Hove the cosmopolitan place it is today."
