Planning a night out in Brighton inspired a family to start a new business.

The getting home safely part of the evening gave Barry Williams and Gina and Meg Heyworth the idea for Jeeves.

Mrs Heyworth said: "For various reasons we couldn't decide who was going to be the driver for the night. We all found excuses why it shouldn't be us.

"We wanted to drive in to the city centre and home again in our car but no one wanted to be the driver on the homeward journey. Then it occurred to us that if we were having the problem other people must be in the same situation and it seemed there was an opportunity of starting a business where people could arrange to have someone reliable drive them home in their own car."

There were a number of barriers to be overcome but, as Mrs Heyworth is a professional business adviser who specialises in planning and strategy, they thought it was worth investigating and came up with Jeeves.

This Jeeves is not a white-gloved butler but a chauffeuring service which drives people and their cars home safely after any occasion.

Mrs Heyworth said: "It is aimed at people who want to visit friends, go to a restaurant or have a good night out in Brighton and get themselves and their car home safely that night.

"The benefits include not having to have a nominated driver, not leaving the car in an insecure or unfamiliar place overnight and having to go into the city the next day to pick it up.

"Booking is easy and payment can be made in advance using a credit card.

"A Jeeves driver will turn up at a pre-arranged place on a specially-designed scooter that folds up and fits in the customer's boot. Once the customer is safely home the Jeeves driver unfolds the scooter and drives off."
