By giving up his Goring-by-Sea seat on May 3, Graham Forshaw will effectively be resigning as leader of the West Sussex County Council (Argus, March 14).
As his "employers", we must refuse to accept his resignation, along with his cabinet colleague Mr Neil Matthewson (education and the arts).
Both were directly responsible for the systematic destruction of the entire hot school meal service in 242 primary schools, adversely affecting the health and education of 64,000 children, inevitably leading to 550 dinner-lady redundancies.
Both are therefore responsible for the resulting "dog's dinner" of a mess. Both should therefore be made responsible for clearing up their own monstrous mess - they cannot expect us, the council taxpayers, to clear it up and they cannot leave when things are in such disarray entirely of their own making.
They are accountable to us, the electorate, and must be brought to account for the decision.
-Richard Symonds, a West Sussex County Council taxpayer in the county electoral division of Ifield
