I experienced a variation on N Duke's "pay-and-display" theme (Opinion, March 8).
After visiting relatives in Worcester, I went on to the Royal Worcester pottery.
The car park was full and no one appeared to be moving. I managed to find a pay-and-display car park about three-quarters of a mile away, where I purchased four hours of parking.
The pottery was so interesting I arrived back at my car 20 minutes after the four hours and found a £20 fine; there was no attendant to discuss the matter with.
I wrote to Worcester City Council and explained the situation. Eventually, Brighton and Hove City Council became involved in collecting the fine.
Council-run pay-and-display car parks need to explain their systems for visit times which cannot be predetermined as well as the lack of change facilities.
