There is much to admire about Talk Sport's coverage of the England tour to Sri Lanka.

To those of us not yet tempted by a dish, it is the best way to keep up with the latest player spats and umpiring blunders in this riveting series.

Dare I mention it, but the revered Test Match Special is hardly missed. It once seemed inconceivable that the BBC masterpiece could ever be matched.

But Mark Nicholas and his team have moved easily into the chair once occupied by broadcasting doyens like John Arlott and Brian Johnston.

The star turn is summariser Geoff Boycott. His comments, unlike his batting, are constructive, forthright and entertaining.

I was never a Boycott fan when he played for Yorkshire and England because I thought he was selfish, dull and kept running out my favourite players.

But as a broadcaster he is up there with the best because he is not afraid to speak out.

However, there is one small matter that does grate.

Cricket is still struggling to restore its reputation following the match-fixing scandals of the last 12 months that claimed the likes of Hansie Cronje and Azzaruhdin.

Tales of shady bookies and bribery dominated our television screens and newspapers.

Inappropriate then that Talk Radio's sponsor for the series in Sri Lanka should be Blue Square, an on-line betting company.

Of course, the damage has already been done. Once, the appalling umpiring would have just been put down to incompetence.

Now, you just can't help wondering....

Talk about adding insult to injury. It was suggested this week that the FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Tottenham be staged at Stamford Bridge.

As a true Blue, I found that prospect totally unacceptable.

The fact of the matter is that Chelsea and the North London show ponies do not get on.

The new-look Stamford Bridge is almost complete and it will soon be one of the top grounds in the country. I don't want that lot coming down and making it untidy.

The Gunners have taken their piece of flesh by knocking us out in the fifth round, now they want to borrow our ground.

My suggestion was St James's Park.

Let's hope the FA bigwigs see sense and wipe out Steve Brown's sending off.

I know rules are rules, but what was the referee thinking about?

Wycombe had just scored the winning goal to knock Premiership Leicester out of the FA Cup and secure their place in the semi-finals.

It will go down as one of the great upsets in FA Cup history.
