Workmen sparked an alert at Gatwick Airport this morning after discovering a suspected mortar shell.
They made the discovery at 8.20am as they were digging in the long stay car park in the South Terminal.
Bomb squad officers were called to the airport to examine the object and an exclusion zone was set up around the car park.
Tests revealed the suspect device was a dummy mortar filled with concrete.
A Gatwick spokeswoman said: "The incident did not cause great disruption. The area around the long stay car park is now back to normal."
