The idea of creating "vile terrifying toys" is nothing new to most children - but Disney have their own particular twist.

They have revived Cruella De Vil and the ever- popular spotted dog brigade in a story of petnap, petulance and puppy power.

Cruella has developed a range of really nasty, robotic toys and is most surprised that children do not want to buy them. She decides children must love their pets more than they love their toys and so seeks to remove the pets to make way for her diabolical play-things.

She reprogrammes the toys to kidnap the puppies and the rest follows a rather predictable course.

The software has 16 levels and players have to sniff, dig and paddle their way around mazes and playgrounds so diverse and exciting that it makes you want to scratch.

The scenarios include Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, the ice festival and the De Vil Manor.

Cruella's very unpleasant sidekicks, Horace and Jasper, interfere regularly to make sure things are not quite as easy as they look. The disgusting duo spend most of their time luring hapless puppies into awful traps and gloating over the consequences.

This thoroughly absorbing and beautifully-designed title is great value for money.

It will keep small people (and most large people too) engrossed for hours.

The ending is pretty good too.
