A man from Peacehaven was charged last night with murdering his wife.

Robert Clifford Anscombe, 45, was due to appear before magistrates in Lewes this morning.

His 40-year-old wife, Debbie Anscombe, was found dead in the bedroom of the couple's home in Cissbury Avenue on March 1. She died from knife wounds.

Mr Anscombe was released from the Royal Sussex County Hospital yesterday after being treated for knife injuries.

He was taken into police custody before being charged.

Mrs Anscombe's two children, an 11-year-old girl and a boy of seven, are being cared for by relatives.
