Unless affiliated to Brighton and Hove City Council or a political activist spin-doctoring for the Labour Party (and there are some regulars writing in The Argus), few would disagree with Mrs Martin (Opinion, February 27): "There are too many political and meaningless letters published on the Argus Opinion page these days."
My simple remedy now is to look at the author's name first and then give the brush immediately to council department officers, most councillors, Messrs Morgan and Jackson and poacher turned gamekeeper the noble Lord Steve Bassam - not my flavour, any of them.
With that lot eliminated (normally over half the field), I read the first few lines of the remainder and those writing on alien subjects also get the chop.
