Police are appealing for help in identifying a seriously injured road accident victim said to resemble the comedian Gareth Hale.
The man was crossing the A23 from the central reservation at Gossops Green, Crawley, early on Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle heading east in the nearside lane.
He was flung into the offside lane by the impact and struck by another vehicle. His injuries are said to be potentially life-threatening.
A police spokesman said officers had been unable to identify the victim, who was aged 40 to 50, 5ft 7in tall and heavily built with dark, greying, wavy, swept-back hair.
He wore a red, green and blue checked shirt over a white T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.
The spokesman said: "He is described as being similar in appearance to Gareth Hale of Hale and Pace.
"His injuries are quite serious and we do need to find out who this gentleman is."
