Michael Hooper will not forget his first team call-up for West Worthing WMC in a hurry.
The 17-year-old striker scored twice, set up another and won a penalty before being taken to Worthing Hospital after a ball hit him hard in the face.
And that was all in 20 short minutes of West Worthing's 7-1 win against West Tarring in Worthing League Division Two.
Manager Nigel Seyfi may have faced a selection headache before deciding whether to play the youngster again today, but it will not have been as bad as Michael's headache while he recovered in hospital for a short time on Saturday afternoon.
Michael said: "I scored the first, then set-up the second and managed to score the third. That all happened in ten minutes. Then I was brought down for a penalty. It easily ranks as one of my best performances.
"I'm just disappointed I couldn't have played longer, but I lost my sight in the right eye when the ball struck me. I had no choice but to go off and check it with the hospital."
Nigel said: "We had five players out and I promoted the lad from the reserves. He was excellent. Michael is on the fringe of the first team and I was very impressed on Saturday. It was awesome."
Michael has fully recovered and his amazing 20 minutes has earned him our JAKO Youth Footballer of the Week prize. He received a football for his efforts.
The striker has no big ambitions to break into the first team. He is just happy to play football.
He said: "I've been with the club for several years. Now we've got a reserve team, so I am always getting a game."
Nominate your talented young players for our prize. We're giving away a JAKO football every week.
