What a waste of light bulbs when workmen tossed hundreds of them away after they'd done service in the Christmas lighting display at George Street in Hove.
Shoppers were right to be outraged when they saw it happening, knowing the bulbs could be used again next year.
Brighton and Hove Council claims the bulbs were near the end of their lives. But bulbs will last far longer than eight weeks when they're only on part of the time as they were for this display.
Next year both the council and Seeboard must be more conscious of saving money when they take down the bulbs.
If they don't, council tax payers will be asking once again why they haven't seen the light.
