Although tragic, it came as no surprise to learn of the violent death of a person at Downland Court.

On October 15 last year I carried into my home an associate of the deceased bleeding profusely from stab wounds received in a drunken brawl at Downland Court.

As a result of this I protested most strongly to the council that, in spite of numerous complaints made to them by residents intimidated by alcoholics frequenting the dwelling of a tenant at Downland Court, no action had be taken.

I also copied the letter to Ivor Caplin MP.

For my troubles, I had no response from the council and only snide remarks made in the Argus by Councillor Carden who said: "Residents of Stonery Road are talking a load of rubbish, there are no problems at Downland Court and I am sick of keep reading there are."

It is little wonder Sergeant Barry has had a poor response from locals helping police inquiries after the horse has bolted.
