Albion boss Micky Adams refuses to fret over a fixture imbalance caused by the unplayable Withdean pitch.

The Seagulls will have played five away matches on the trot by the time they return to Withdean against promotion rivals Cardiff on February 10.

They face visits to Exeter, Torquay and Rochdale following the postponement of tomorrow's home game against Barnet.

The away sequence started with the switched LDV Vans Trophy tie at Brentford and last Saturday's 2-0 win at Kidderminster.

"We've got two of them out of the way and did reasonably well in them, so it's not going to worry me," said Adams. "I think the boys quite enjoy playing away.

"It is a bit of a bind for the supporters and a lot of expense is involved.

"But we have got a decent away record which compares favourably with the top teams in the division, so we will try and make the best of it. The beauty of tomorrow is that regardless of how the teams around us do we will still be in second place."

Adams is concerned about the possibility of Cardiff, managed by his former No. 2 Alan Cork, inflicting psychological damage on his players and Chesterfield lengthening their current six-point lead.

Cardiff will knock Albion out of second spot for the first time since October if they beat Plymouth at home tomorrow and Shrewsbury away next Tuesday.

Chesterfield could be 12 points clear of the Seagulls by then. They visit Darlington tomorrow and York on Tuesday.

"I'm not particularly worried about lagging behind in terms of games," Adams said. "The psychological aspect is if teams play and go above you.

"That might then become a barrier for the players, but we have got to use all these negatives and turn them into positives as much as we can.

"It is obviously frustrating to have another game called off. We train to play.

"We now have until February 10 to get the pitch into some sort of decent order, so let's hope the wait is worthwhile."

Non-season ticket holders with a ticket for the Barnet match have the choice of retaining it for the rearranged date, swapping it for another home League game this season or a full refund.
