Regarding Cathedral Plea (January 5), I was heartened by James Creed's letter.
No doubt this issue of a cathedral for the city of Brighton and Hove will engender considerable debate in the coming months.
May I suggest, however, that one of our beautiful existing churches is established as 'our' cathedral, as opposed to a new modern building.
Churches that readily spring to mind are St Peter's, London Road; All Saints, The Drive; St Bartholomew's, Ann Street; St Michael of All Angels, Montpelier Area; St Philip's, New Church Road; St Paul's, West Street and St Nicholas', Dyke Road.
Argus readers can no doubt suggest other worthy candidates.
