Albion manager Micky Adams will not stand in Bobby Zamora's way if a Premiership or First Division club makes an acceptable bid for him.

Adams' pledge follows the £1.2 million offer for the teenage hotshot from Third Division rivals Cardiff City, revealed in yesterday's Argus.

The Seagulls turned the Welsh giants down, but Adams vowed: "I won't stand in the boy's way if we get an acceptable bid and it's good for him.

"I can see a Premiership or First Division club being a good career move, but not Cardiff."

Four Premiership clubs and seven from the First Division were represented at last Saturday's FA Cup tie at Scunthorpe, when Zamora equalised with his 16th goal of the season and then received a late red card.

Adams is under no pressure to sell the 19-year-old and will only do so if the move is right for the player and the price is right for the club.

"Bobby Zamora is not for sale to Cardiff or any other Third Division club," Adams said.

"If you can tell me that is a good career move for him I will eat my hat."

"It would have made no difference if that offer had been from a Premiership or First Division club.

"As I have said before everyone has got a price and there have been enquiries from other bigger and better clubs than Cardiff.

"People have to realise I bought Bobby for £100,000 and I have supposedly turned him into a £1.2 million player.

"Where do I get somebody else like that from? It would be near impossible to do the same thing again. Where and how do I replace him?

"Bobby was very happy to sign a four-year contract a few months ago. Why should we be under pressure to sell him?"
