The Environment Agency has renewed flood warnings on five Sussex rivers as more rain is predicted for later today.
The rivers Lavant, Ems, Adur (between Burgess Hill and Henfield), Cuckmere (from Alfriston to Exceat Bridge) and Ouse are all still at risk of flooding.
Levels on all rivers are still high because of heavy rain over the weekend, with many still rising yesterday afternoon as water streamed off already saturated land.
Pumping was restarted on the river Lavant at Chichester following the weekend's rainfall.
The Environment Agency said it was working to ensure there was a free flow of water on Sussex rivers and urged people to take care near swollen or fast flowing rivers.
Bulldozers were also continuing to work at Selsey to repair shingle banks on the coast.
