Albion hot-shot Bobby Zamora has been condemned to Christmas training after seeing red in the FA Cup.

The teenage star will be suspended for one match for his last-gasp dismissal in Saturday' second round defeat at Scunthorpe.

He misses the Boxing Day trip to Barnet, but boss Micky Adams pledged: "Believe you me he won't get Boxing Day off.

"Bobby has learnt a harsh lesson. The eyes of the world are on him because of his goalscoring record.

"Clubs and referees are watching him and he has got to be more sensible. "But I am not going to lambast him. He is 19 years old and still learning his trade."

Zamora turned from hero to villain in Albion's 2-1 exit at Glanford Park.

His header from a Paul Watson cross cancelled out Steve Torpey's early tap-in for Scunthorpe and lifted his tally for the season to 16.

Then, after Gareth Sheldon headed Scunthorpe's winner, Zamora was booked in the dying stages of normal time for kicking out at Russ Wilcox.

He was ordered off for another yellow card three minutes into stoppage time, when he knocked the ball out of the hands of keeper Tommy Evans.

Scunthorpe finished with ten men as well. Referee Bill Jordan sent-off Icelandic midfielder Bjarni Larusson a minute later, also for a second bookable offence.

Adams added: "It wasn't one of those games which warranted sending-offs.

"I thought the ref was quite sensible early on, but I don't really want to say much more.

"The last time I commented on a referee I was accused of ranting."

Albion are now six points adrift of leaders Chesterfield following only their second defeat in 20 matches. They beat Exeter 2-0 at home in the League.
