James Greed's notion the Sussex county cricket ground could be brought up to test standard demonstrates his lack of understanding about this ground (Opinion, June 14).
Don Trangmar of the club has admitted the ground is currently not up to international level due primarily to lack of capacity (Argus, March 22).
His aim is to raise capacity to 8,000, but that is still a long way short of the 20,000 or so needed for a test ground.
Other than demolishing the surrounding properties, the wicket to boundary measurement requirements for test-level cricket could never be achieved.
I, and many other residents who live near the county ground, wish only to live peacefully without the brilliant lights, thumping music and smell of fast food.
If this is the club's (and Mr Greed's) idea of improving the facilities at the ground then I admit my attitude is "not in my backyard, please".
If the Upper Beeding site is suitable, why hasn't the club considered it?
