Lindfield's last pair dealt Roffey's title bid a major blow when they survived 13.3 overs to force a draw in cricket's Sussex Invitation League.

The visitors, looking for full points to remain on the heels of leaders Findon, posted 204-4, then had Lindfield reeling at 30-5 and then 96-9 with plenty of time left.

But Steve Pearce held out to reach 41 not out and David Parry helped him through the final overs as the hosts closed on 127-9.

Lindfield's Graham Page admitted: "We were a bit surprised how good Roffey's bowlers were. They looked a very strong, professional outfit all round.

"But give credit to our later batsmen. They went for their shots and it certainly wasn't a boring draw."

Findon enjoyed a rest day and remain ideally placed in top spot with a match in hand, with Goring now second after picking up full points at rivals Barns Green.

Martin Rush grabbed 6-55 and P Thompson 4-42 to removed the village club for 132. Goring got their runs at better than five an over in reply with Steve Collins unbeaten on 70 in a six-wicket win.

Crawley's Fallah-U-Din was out for 99 as the derby with Ifield finish honours even.

He eased his side to 230-7 having been put in. Ifield responded with 177-7, skipper Graeme Dean contributing 61.

The only player who passed three figures in the top flight was Australian Scott Bridges with an undefeated 102 as Arundel piled up 225-2 to beat East Preston.

Bridges joined Richard Diplock (57 not out) at the crease when his side were on 70-2.

Neil Chitty completed the job by claiming 6-32 as East Preston were removed for 148, of which Peter Dallimore hit 55.

Pagham enjoyed their first win of the campaign after reaching 200-8 having been put in by visitors Keymer & Hassocks.

S.Dobbs made 72 for the hosts before J Prior took a matchwinning 7-53 as Keymer were all out for 150.

Nick Wisdom made 58 for Cuckfield against Burgess Hill, but they finished four runs short of their 181 target with two wickets standing.

No such drama at Henfield where Clymping, chasing 176, were 115-6 at the close.

In division two, Ansty's Richard Nicholls was again among the runs with an unbeaten 116 in an eight- wicket win at home to South Bersted & Bognor.

He had earlier taken 4-18 and Simon Parsons collected 5-55 as the visitors were dismissed for 151.

Leaders Southwick struggled at home to Southwater, who reached 151-7 then had their hosts 149-8 at the close.

Portslade reduced the gap to 27 points as they invited Wisborough Green to bat first, dismissed them for 194 and won by four wickets. Mark Waddleton made 58 for Wisborough.

Rustington had two centurions and rattled up 230-1. Selsey, who had put their hosts in to bat, ground out 118-7 and finished pointless.

Alan Tyler was 112 not out and Steve Helliwell unbeaten on 100 in an unbroken second-wicket stand of 209.

Adrian Haines scored 59 and took 4-60 for Slinfold as almost 500 runs were scored in their draw at Pulborough.

St Andrews' last pair forced a draw at Scaynes Hill and there was a first win for Broadbridge Heath, by three wickets at home to Ardingly.
