A long-term wish to run their own company has come true for Vince Baker and Tony Crawley.

The two, who worked in retail management for many years, are now cleaning up in a new line of business and are looking to take on staff.

Domestic Blitz was set up two years ago when Vince armed with mop and bucket and cleaning materials would walk to customers' homes.

Before leaving his previous job, he trudged the streets of Portslade putting notices through letterboxes offering to clean and take care of property.

Within two weeks he had found five customers and decided the time was right to take the plunge and leave his old job.

He said: "We had always thought of having our own company for years.

"So we did some research, spoke to friends and read up on it and heard about other people's success stories, which gave us food for thought.

"After our initial research, we decided we had thought about it for long enough and if we were ever going to do it, then there was no better time.

"We had a handful of customers and I left my job in retail management and Domestic Blitz was born.

"But within three months, our customer base had grown so big I couldn't continue working on my own any more.

"So Tony resigned from his company and since then we have both worked full-time cleaning people's homes and we both enjoy it."

Happy to embrace new technology, Vince and Tony have set up their own website www.domesticblitz.co.uk Domestic Blitz now has a waiting list of clients and Vince and Tony expect to take on staff in the near future.

Vince said: "It has all been down to hard work and a pride in what we do.

"And thankfully, we managed to start the business without borrowing from the bank.

"We are never complacent and are always looking to improve in all areas."
