Meconic, the UK's only licensed supplier of heroin and cocaine, said profits jumped last year on the back of its decision to concentrate on cost reductions and margins growth.
The company, which supplies heroin and cocaine for medical treatments, saw pre-tax profits soar to £8.1 million for the year ending April 30, compared with a loss of £2.5 million a year earlier.
Last year's figure included a one-off cost of £5.7 million on sale of a subsidiary. Turnover was £61.3 million.
