PAUL Rogers was on the scoresheet as Albion Reserves eased into the semi-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 2-0 win at County League Sidley United.

The Seagulls' skipper, who is banned for Saturday's trip to Northampton, was a surprise inclusion in an experienced Albion line up.

Dave Cameron made his first appearance in an Albion shirt since being labelled 'useless' by the club's management.

Ironically, Cameron lined up alongside first team boss Micky Adams, who turned out at left wing-back in a defence which also featured golden oldies Ian Culverhouse and Keith McPherson.

Albion dominated throughout but were unable to turn their superiority into goals.

The deadlock was broken on 34 minutes when Dean Hammond lifted the ball into the penalty area, Sidley failed to clear and Rogers ceased on it to fire low into the corner.

A crowd of 566 had to wait until the 67th minute for a second goal which arrived when Hammond curled a beauty into the far corner from Chris McPhee's lay off.

Hammond, the only player in the starting line-up without first team experience, was the pick of the bunch with an impressive display in midfield.

McPhee also looked useful and went close a couple of times in the second half, while Cameron clipped the outside of the post late on with a curling effort.

Sidley rarely threatened with their best chance coming while the score was still goalless when Adam Day fired over the bar.
