ALBION assistant Alan Cork has challenged reserve winger Rod Thomas to be more consistent.

Thomas enjoyed a prolonged taste of first team action at Torquay on Saturday.

The little winger replaced the injured Darren Freeman midway through the first half of the 0-0 draw at Plainmoor.

Cork said: "Rod had an excellent game on the right wing. Now he has set his standard he has got to do it week in and week out."

Thomas lost his place in the starting line-up at the end of November. The Torquay match was his tenth in a row on the bench.

Jamie Campbell finds himself in the Reserves again for tonight's Sussex Senior Cup third round tie at Crawley (7.45pm).

Campbell, in and out of the first team since December, was omitted from the squad for the Torquay trip.

The Reserve squad also includes transfer-listed goalkeeper Mark Ormerod, five of the youngsters knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Everton last week and Irish midfielder Paul Armstrong, who has just made his comeback from an ankle injury.

Crawley's former Albion defender Lee Doherty is out to prove the Seagulls were wrong to release him.

The 19-year-old, signed last week from Ryman League Premier Division Chesham after three appearances for Albion last season, makes his third start for the Reds.

"I learnt a lot in my time at Albion and enjoyed the taste of League football," said Doherty. "It was disappointing to be released and hopefully I can show them a thing or two tonight."On-loan Brentford and Northern Ireland under 21 midfielder Gareth Graham should be in the Crawley side, but defender Marc Pullen and striker Clinton Moore are cup-tied.

Ex-Crystal Palace marksman Dean Wordsworth makes his debut after signing from Ashford and goalkeeper Andy Little returns from a one-match suspension.
