A LIFEBOAT was called in to rescue an injured woman after ambulance crews could not get to her.

Roberta Bacon was walking on the beach at Fairlight Country Park, near Hastings, when she stumbled on rock and fell, injuring her leg.

An ambulance crew was called but could not get to the beach.

The Hastings inshore lifeboat was launched at 1.20pm yesterday.

The lifeboat crew, with a paramedic on board, strapped her to a board and carried her to the boat.

She was taken to Hastings Lifeboat Station with a suspected broken leg, and then transferred to an ambulance for the trip to the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, for treatment.
