A SUSPECT package that brought a Sussex village to a standstill was an envelope full of homeopathic medicine, police said today.

The centre of Hassocks was closed off after a postman at the Keymer Road sorting office spotted the package at 10am yesterday.

Initial fears were that the package was a bomb sent by animal rights activists.

An Army bomb disposal team X-rayed the envelope and saw what appeared to be a wire and bottles in bubble-wrap.

They opened the envelope but found only bottles of pills.

Today police said the package was addressed to someone known to be "vulnerable."
