ENGLAND skipper Nasser Hussain yesterday dropped a broad hint that Sussex skipper Chris Adams may play in England's first Test against South Africa next week.

After England ground out a draw against a Combined Western Province/Boland XI at Newlands, Hussain admitted he was happy with "70-80 per cent of things."

And he added that the contribution that Adams has made has been significant.

Hussain said: "I'm very happy with things at he moment. Our main bowlers Headley and Caddick are getting plenty of practice, Atherton is batting like he's never been away, and the fielding has been superb.

"And then there's players like Adams and Vaughan who have done a good job.

"Before this match, everyone was asking about Adams and he's gone out and got 89.

"My only concerns are that Darren Gough needs to get some practice under his belt and that our late order batting is letting us down again.

"Apart from that I am happy with 70-80 per cent of things and feel we're getting better with every match."

The first Test against South Africa is in Bloemfontein on Tuesday November 16.
