SOL Gilbert, Matty Watts and Scott Grigg provided Hove-based Savages ABC with three winners in an explosive 12-bout dinner bill at Hove Town Hall.

Gilbert, 23, made it nine victories in 12 starts after his nail-biting battle with Norwich middleweight Howard Duff which was also voted bout of the night.

Watts, in only his second public performance, forced Dorking bantamweight Stuart Smith to take a standing count in the opening round.

Although the Surrey boxer fought back well to even the score in the next round, Watts later applied enough pressure to put the result beyond any doubt.

Light-heavyweight Scott Grigg looked like being taken the distance by his Hastings West Hill counterpart Darren Wright.

But Grigg somehow found the strength to hit the target with a barrage of shots in the third, and Hastings referee Paul Gates stepped in to save Wright possible punishment.

Other results: Junior. Gary Hudson (Southwick and Lancing) beat Natham McKenzie (Waterlooville). Youth. Tom Cranenbourgh (Hove) beat Dave Keene (Bognor). Senior. Feather: Craig Weston (Norwich) beat Gary Mansell (Brighton) stopped third round. Light heavy: Luke Jackman (Waterlooville) beat Darren Phillips (Hove) stopped third round. Special contest: feather. Sandra Williams (Balham) beat Louise Tuppen (Savages).
