LEWES are back up third in hockey's National Division One with four matches to go.

But they failed to hit top form in scraping a 3-2 win away to mid-table Harleston.

Skipper Jeremy Boyse admitted: "They were tough and physical but we should have done better."

Lewes led three times through Boyse, Will Waters and Luke Hurle, who converted a rebound 12 minutes from time for the winner.

WORTHING are hoping to take over as top Sussex side in the regional league after their 3-1 defeat of second placed Rochester and Gillingham.

Super strikes from Mark Duncan (two) and Simon Holloway leave them just two points behind Horsham in the Kent/Sussex table.
