EAST Grinstead's National League relegation fears increased after a 3-2 defeat at rivals Hounslow.

It's not so long ago that these two teams were battling it out for the title.

But now survival's the aim and Grinstead failed to get their passing game together on the tricky water-based pitch at Chiswick.

They failed to make the most of two early short corners and were punished on 20 minutes when Andy Whalley fired past Jamie Westwood, who had already made a couple of sharp saves.

Jason Collins levelled when he converted a corner with a fierce drag flick.

Brett Gillmon eased Hounslow back ahead in the second period but, against the run of play, Jamie Brown grabbed an equaliser.

Hope of a point was shortlived as Whalley hit his seocnd to win it for Hounslow.

Grinstead are at Crystal Palace on Friday in the National Indoor Finals.

Their next league match is on Sunday when they entertain leaders Canterbury (2pm).
