ALBION'S Peter Smith and Kerry Mayo have paid the price for the Seagulls' poor start to the season.

The pair have been dumped in the Reserves for tonight's first home Combination game against Wycombe Wanderers at Worthing (7.0).

Boss Brian Horton has reacted to his side's tardy opening by demoting two of the players to have figured in all five games so far.

Rightback Smith and midfielder Mayo were both substituted at Brentford last Saturday.

Danny Hinshelwood, the son of the Seagulls' director of youth Martin Hinshelwood, starts a month's trial tonight.

Hinshelwood Junior, a 22-year-old fullback, has just been released by Portsmouth.

Agraduate of the National School of Excellence, he was snapped up by Nottingham Forest before moving to Pompey, where he made five League appearances and nine more in a loan spell with Torquay.

Skipper Gary Hobson could make his comeback from injury this evening.

Alate decision will be made on the progress of Hobson, who has missed the last three matches with a back problem.
