The three busiest speed cameras in Sussex netted more than £400,000 last year.
More than 6,700 drivers were snapped by the top three fixed speed cameras during 2009.
With drivers fined £60 a time for exceeding the limit, the three cameras generated more than £1,000 a day.
The latest figured revealed by The Argus show that two of cameras at the top of the list were within the city of Brighton and Hove The camera in the 30 mile an hour limit on Preston Road regularly tops the list of Sussex’s busiest cameras.
In 2005 the camera topped the list, catching 6,485 drivers.
The second busiest camera was on the A258 Kingsway, Hove, near the King Alfred swimming pool.
The third busiest camera was on edge of Sussex’s border with Surrey, on the A286 Haslemere Road, just north of Fernhurst.
