Mark McGhee revealed today he wants to sign another striker with cash Albion receive from Leeds for Dan Harding.

Two of the current front men could be chopped and McGhee also hopes to bring in at least two other new faces, a left-sided midfielder and a centre half on loan to cover for the injured Adam Hinshelwood.

The manager outlined his plans for further squad strengthening as recent acquisitions Colin Kazim-Richards and Jason Dodd reported with the rest of the squad yesterday for the start of pre-season training.

How much scope McGhee has in the transfer market will depend on how much a tribunal decides Leeds must pay for Harding.

He still wants a more experienced forward following the capture of 18-year-old Kazim-Richards from Bury, which leaves the futures of Mark McCammon and Maheta Molango in particular in some doubt.

McGhee admitted: "At some point something has got to give. There are too many similar strikers within the group we have at the moment.

"We are still looking for something different, so I am looking at them all pre-season and it is up to them to establish themselves.

"Jake (Robinson) is not under threat, because he is still a young lad and I think he needs time. Of the others, it's not impossible it would have to be two that go.

"I am looking for a more experienced striker unless somebody suddenly materialises into the player we need.

"I don't think that is impossible because this time last year I had high hopes for Chris McPhee and then he was injured. Colin is the same, he might be up for it.

"The others, Leon (Knight), Maheta and Mark, are all other types of striker, different from the other one we need, so they are the guys who are going to have to do the business."

The signing of 34-year-old former Southampton captain Dodd improves the defensive options, but McGhee revealed: "I think we are still short of a centre half as long as Hinsh is out.

"Ideally we would like another, so I will be talking to people about a loan, maybe until Christmas when Hinsh gets back.

"I think we need a left midfield player and we may even need a wide left player as well unless Albert (Jarrett) comes back looking the part."

McCammon (ankle), Adam Virgo (cartilage) and Richard Carpenter (ankle) were all fit to take part in the first training session yesterday following minor operations during the close season.

Michel Kuipers (shoulder) and first year pro Chris Breach (foot) are still sidelined together with Hinshelwood (knee).

Former Millwall and Crawley centre half Joe Dolan, who Albion had on loan at the end of last season, is joining Leyton Orient.

Long-serving defender Paul Watson, released by the Seagulls, is linking up again with Micky Adams at Coventry. They are expected to sign him if he proves his fitness in pre-season training.
