Johan van der Wath could be called upon for some farewell fireworks as Sussex Sharks stage a must-win Twenty20 sell-out at Hove tonight.

The big-hitting South African all-rounder is in a 13-man squad to tackle Hampshire Hawks before 5,800 fans as Sussex chase qualification to the last eight.

It is likely to be his last game for the county.

He is set to be replaced as Sussex's overseas player by Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, who is undergoing a series of fitness tests at Hove.

Rana looks set to show his new-ball skills against Middlesex on Monday.

Sussex face a battle to progress from the group stage of the increasingly popular competition after a narrow defeat to Surrey on Wednesday.

Coach Peter Moores, though, sees no reason to make massive changes to the team which took group leaders Surrey to a thrilling last-ball finale.

He said: "We'll check on the weather and the wicket before we make our selection but I thought the team played very well against Surrey.

"It was a fantastic team performance in a great game of cricket so we are not looking to change things too much."

Sharks will select from the 11 who played Surrey plus Tim Ambrose and Jason Lewry as they tackle the second half of their group campaign.

They have just three points from four fixtures so far and skipper Chris Adams' gut reaction after the Surrey defeat was that they might need to win their last four games.

Moores does not go quite that far but he admitted: "We've got two home games left and they have to be two wins.

"It is still in our hands. If we win all four we will definitely go through."

Hampshire have suffered at the hands of the weather but a repeat of last season's dramatic win at Hove will ease them towards qualification along with Surrey.

They are missing their two biggest names in Kevin Pietersen and Shane Warne as well as Dimitri Mascarenhas, who took a hat-trick in last season's cross-border meeting.

Twenty-year-old wicketkeeper Tom Burrows makes his Twenty20 debut.

It is hectic night in the south group as Surrey host Kent and Middlesex entertain Essex.

The top two in each group go through, along with the two third-placed teams with the best records.

Tonight's game starts at 6.30pm with gates opening at 4.30pm.

Sussex still have tickets left for Monday's game, available to personal callers to the ground.

Sussex: from Ward, Prior, Adams, Goodwin, van der Wath, Yardy, Hopkinson, Wright, Davis, Ahmed, Kirtley, Ambrose, Lewry.

Hampshire: Pothas, Lamb, Stokes, Ervine, McMillan, Prittipaul, Adams, Burrows, Udal, Bruce, Logan.
