Nicholas Soames may slam the attitude of today's society (The Argus, June 16) but could he be part of the problem?
The reason for the lack of respect is from politicians and out-of-date judges who seem to live in cloud-cukoo-land and who don't know what's going on in the real world.
Not to mention all the do-gooders, who condemn physical punishment.
Yobs have no fear of corporal punishment. The police catch them but they are then let off with ridiculous sentences.
Youngsters, on the whole, have no respect for the elderly and many parents seem to have no control over them whatsoever.
