Sussex coach Peter Moores saw his bowlers get a pasting at Trent Bridge and admitted: "I don't know where that came from."

Jason Gallian (199) and Stephen Fleming (111) led the way as Nottinghamshire piled up 488-6 to establish a lead of 109 going into the final day of their Championship tussle.

All the Sussex bowlers got some stick and Moores admitted his side had struggled after conceding 150 runs in the first session.

He said: "Going for over four runs an over all day is vey unlike us. I don't know where that came from to be honest.

"We bowled poorly before lunch and once good players like Gallian and Fleming get established on a decent pitch it is a struggle to hold them.

"We've got to regroup, try and bowl them out and then bat well. Once you get in it's a good pitch to bat on but there is some help there with the new ball."

The county head north tonight for the first of two totesport League games in successive days. They tackle Yorkshire Phoenix at Headingley tomorrow (1pm), then move on to Durham.

Robin Martin-Jenkins (knee) is a slight doubt but Moores confirmed Johan van der Wath will make his one-day debut for the county so there will be one change to the side which beat Derbyshire last week.
