With reference to Lesley Kite's letter (June 6), about parents parking on yellow zig-zag lines, this is a common problem outside many schools.

I regularly walk past Brighton and Hove High, Infant and Junior School in Radinden Manor Road, Hove.

Selfish, lazy parents park and sit in their cars there, not only on the yellow zig-zags but also on double-yellow lines near the school, causing many problems.

There is plenty of free parking within a couple of minutes' walk from the school but, oh dear, it would hurt their poor, delicate legs to walk.

One wonders how they would feel if one of their precious offspring were to be involved in an accident as a result of someone else's illegal parking. No doubt they would complain then.

It seems parking regulations always apply to other people.

The local council could make a mint by having traffic wardens at schools and booking these irresponsible people. Then eventually, the problem would be cured.
