In addition to the proposed second runway at Gatwick Airport, about a mile from the town centre, BAA is proposing to build a new "super terminal", the size of the existing two terminals combined.

This super terminal, potentially located between the existing and proposed second runway near City Place, will have a greater capacity than the soon-to-be-opened Heathrow T5 terminal, with some 45 million passengers anticipated to pass through it every year, which is more passengers than Gatwick currently handles.

Just imagine the traffic issues of getting 45 million passengers in and out of this new terminal, let alone all the additional parking spaces which will required to be accommodated on the Green Belt land around the airport.

This is another reason, before the BAA consultation closes on June 30, to tell BAA and the Government that one runway is enough.
