Gary Croydon will quit as manager of Ryman division one side Burgess Hill at the end of the season.

Croydon, 53, is stepping down for personal reasons.

He said: "I am going purely for personal reasons, although there are other issues which need to be addressed at the club.

"I have been involved for seven years, one under Alan Pook and six in management off and on, and I feel I have had my time.

"I've not done badly but the job demands a lot of hours and with new personal commitments, including my forthcoming marriage, I will not be able to give the job the time it requires during the summer and the new season.

"I am not going anywhere else. I am one of the three directors and chief executive so I will still be around the club."

Croydon, who led Hillians to the County League title in 2001-02, will be involved in the search for his successor.

He said: "We will be drawing up a shortlist of people we want to talk to about taking the job and hope to be able to announce who will be in charge for next season by mid-May."

Whitehawk boss Ian Chapman is thought to be among the contenders.
