Albion are pulling out all the stops in their bid for Championship survival, with a five star build-up to Saturday's crucial trip to Burnley.

The cash-strapped Seagulls are preparing for the key visit to Turf Moor with a short break at a luxury hotel hideaway in Chester.

The players leave tomorrow for a two-night stay before travelling onto Burnley on Friday. Chairman Dick Knight has sanctioned the treat to demonstrate the club's support for the relegation fight.

Manager Mark McGhee said: "We've got to try to win any of the four games we have left.

"The chairman wants to send a message to the players about how behind them he is. He believes in them and is prepared to give them every help he can to try to get a win.

"We are only a small group. There are 17 or 18 players travelling and we are giving them a signal that we are right behind them and that there is still everything to play for.

"We are trying to make the message as positive as possible from the club, to show the players they are appreciated."

Albion could be boosted by the return from knee surgery of long-serving defender Kerry Mayo.

He has a run-out in the reserves at Millwall today in a team otherwise made up entirely of youth players.

McGhee said: "He will have a bit of the reserve game at Millwall and if he comes through that okay we will take him with us.

"At worst we can have him on the bench, at best if he trains on Thursday and Friday and looks allright we might even include him."

Mayo has missed Albion's last three matches after sustaining cartilage damage in the home defeat against Reading last month.

Next-to-bottom Nottingham Forest, a place and six points below Albion, play their must-win game in hand at home to play-off chasing Sheffield United tonight.
