Albion manager Mark McGhee today revealed plans to sign another nippy striker.

McGhee wants to add a forward in the same mould as Leon Knight to his squad before the transfer deadline later this month.

Chris McPhee has played a bit-part in the Seagulls' last two matches but he is short of match fitness following five months out and McGhee wants to make sure he is well-covered for the Championship run-in.

"We still would like another option as a striker, another quick one as an alternative to Leon, although Chris is on his way back," McGhee said.

"He is still a few weeks away. We had him in on Sunday morning running, so we are getting him up to speed.

"Unfortunately we lost a week last week because of the weather and at the beginning of last week Chris was feeling his foot a bit, so we eased off him."

McGhee could also sign another goalkeeper before the deadline following the capture of Rami Shaaban for the rest of the season.

That decision will depend on the sidelined Ben Roberts proving his fitness and how the table looks after another three matches.

"Ben has got time to convince us he is going to be okay," McGhee said. "It will be affected by results as well.

"If we get some points in the three games before the deadline then it takes the pressure off a wee bit and maybe we would risk at some point having to put young Chris (May) in."

McPhee had an eventful match in a 2-1 defeat for the Reserves at Millwall yesterday, giving Albion the lead and then conceding the Lions' winning penalty.

He chested down and volleyed in a pinpoint free-kick from Nathan Jones after 25 minutes.

Dean Pooley levelled with a header from a corner seven minutes later and Kevin Braniff scored from the spot early in the second half after McPhee handled Will Hendry's shot.

Albion had strong penalty appeals of their own rejected ten minutes from time for handball by Hendry from Albert Jarrett's volley.

Albion Reserves: May; Watson, El-Abd, Elphick, Jones, Cox, Hammond, Jarrett, Chamberlain, McPhee, Fillery (Gatting 58). Unused subs: Mountford, Piper, Sullivan, Rents.
