No wonder the new Jubilee Library was full to overflowing on Saturday. Of course people wanted to see the fantastic new building.
But they had no choice about when they came over the weekend because between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, the library is only open for six hours. There is no point having a wonderful resource which is so hard for working people to access.
I understand a set allowance of opening hours have been allocated so why not follow the opening times of Brighton Museum, which is closed Monday and open on Sunday. Or close all day Wednesday (it is only open for four hours at present) and move the times to Sunday. Weekend access to the library needs to be re-thought. The promised review in six months is too far away.
