Albion were today sweating on the fitness of Mark McCammon for Saturday's trip to Plymouth.

The big target man is undergoing medical checks following his early departure from Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Stoke.

McCammon felt unwell and was substituted at half-time after conceding the first of Stoke's two penalties.

Manager Mark McGhee said: "He looked very lethargic. He was feeling very ill and weak.

"He hadn't trained all week and probably I should have known better, because he is somebody who needs to train.

"It wasn't the back injury he suffered against Millwall, that was fine. He was just feeling sick, so he didn't train yesterday and he is going to a specialist for blood tests and stuff."

Doubts about McCammon's well-being for Saturday's six-pointer at Home Park are exacerbated for McGhee by a question mark over the availability of Adam Virgo.

The versatile youngster, sidelined from the last two matches by suspension, attends his father's funeral later this week and is on compassionate leave.

Chris McPhee, taken off during the first half at Stoke on only his second appearance since a five-month absence with a broken foot bone, was due for a 90-minute run-out in the Reserves at Millwall today (2pm).

Three of Albion and Plymouth's fellow Championship strugglers are in action tonight.

Crewe, a point and a place below the Seagulls with an inferior goal difference, play their game in hand at Sheffield United.

Leicester need to win at Burnley to move above McGhee's side, while next-to-bottom Nottingham Forest visit Watford.

Albion Reserves: C. May; P. Watson, El-Abd, Elphick, Mayo; Cox, Hammond, Chamberlain, Jones; McPhee, Jarrett. Subs: Mountford, Fillery, Piper, Gatting, Sullivan.
