Following on from Mr Jupp of Hollingbury (Letters, March 3), I am one of the growing number of disgruntled Hangleton residents who are fed up with paying extremely high council tax while receiving a service which is a total disgrace.

Brighton and Hove City Council appear to think more about the welfare of the binmen than of the residents they are supposed to be serving, some of whom are the elderly, the very young and the sick.

We were told we are to be given wheelie bins which, every collection day, we will have to drag from our front doors to the street, up several steps on the way, in order for it to be easier for the binmen to use their lorry to empty the bin.

What is our tax money spent on? We should stop being taken for a ride and ditch the council which does not serve us at all.
