I would like to take issue with Robert Nemeth's insulting remarks about council planning officers (Letters, December 21).
Their job is to be fair and impartial in assessing planning applications and to uphold planning law.
It's a complex job not made any easier when people who would rather simply disregard planning law when it doesn't suit them snipe spitefully from the sidelines.
Our planning officers are doing such a good job the Government has just given them an extra £750,000 to help sustain their excellent performance.
-Councillor Bob Carden, chairman, planning applications sub-committee, Brighton and Hove City Council
