A caf which brought bistro food to a hospital has won an award.
The 20-20 caf at the East Brighton Community Mental Health Centre, based at Brighton General Hospital, has been recognised for its excellence in standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
The award was given by Brighton and Hove City Council.
The caf serves a weekday menu of contemporary bistro food and is highly rated by staff and visitors alike.
People with mental health problems are helped in their drive to get back to work by doing shifts at the cafe, run by the mental health organisation Care Co-ops.
Catering manager Alan Lugton said: "What we try to do here is offer the type of food you would find in any decent restaurant in town but for much less expense.
"Using fresh and interesting ingredients motivates the volunteers who train with us and it keeps the customers coming through the door."
The health centre is part of South Downs Health NHS Trust, which is responsible for mental health, community, rehabilitation and children's services in the city.
Care Co-ops offers day services, employment and training opportunities to people with mental health problems.
It and the trust collaborate on a number of projects, including the caf and the shop at Mill View Hospital in Hove.
