I do not condone the activities that led to David Blunkett's resignation.

However, he has paid a heavy penalty compared with the price paid by the Prime Minister for his activities.

Mr Blair ordered an attack on another country illegally (no authorisation by the United Nations) on false pretences (no weapons of mass destruction) and misled the House of Commons.

On the Government's own admission, this has led to thousands of deaths, including 74 British citizens.

And yet he survives and prospers, unlike the unfortunate Mr Blunkett.
