Most workers will not be having a Christmas party, extra leave or a bonus this year, highlighting the Scrooge mentality of employers, a leading union complained today.

A survey of 500 workers by Amicus showed only one in three will have a festive celebration paid for by their employers.

One in ten have never had a Christmas party, while two-thirds will not be receiving a bonus to mark the end of the year.

Most of those polled said they have been told they have to work between Christmas and the New Year even though it is the most unproductive time of the year.
