Worthing have set their sights on a second successive Sussex Senior Cup final after easing into the third round with a resounding win at Hastings United.

Assistant manager Danny Bloor said: "We made three or four changes from the team that beat Mangotsfield on Saturday and it was a very professional performance.

"The goals were shared around, which was a pleasing aspect.

"These games can be tricky but after reaching the final last year we want to get there again and win it this time."

The visitors had their first sight of goal inside two minutes when Mark Knee fired over from an acute angle.

They made no mistake five minutes later through a neat finish by Matt Geard that beat Greg Nessling low at his near post.

Hastings suffered another blow when central defender Peter Mortley had to be substituted after picking up a knock in a challenge. It could have been worse as Sean Ray was lucky not to be sent off after appearing to throw a punch during a scuffle with Geard.

Worthing heaped further misery on their hosts on 21 minutes, Knee heading home at the far post from Geard's hanging corner.

Hastings gave themselves a glimmer of hope just past the half hour when Andy Ducille, who started the season with Worthing, made no mistake from 12 yards to claim his third goal in four games.

The Rebels restored their two- goal advantage 12 minutes into the second half through an unmarked Ronnie Green who finished off a cross from Ashley Carew.

Soon after a speculative long range drive from Knee skimmed under the dive of Nessling.

Worthing saved the best till last when a slick move down the right on 68 minutes was rounded off by Carew's clever chip.
